COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Your first months in Canada can be full of change. Exploring your new community and getting involved can help you meet people and feel at home. Building a social network and getting involved in the community by joining programs and activities offered at local communities can enhance your settlement experience. Greater Moncton Vietnamese Association (GMVA) can help you start making these connections. You might want to find out what’s available below.

In-person consultation support

Contact Mr. Binh Nguyen, Vice President of GMVA, at 506 862 9741 for one-on-one support.

Companionship

Companionship at GMVA means GMVA introduce a Vietnamese volunteer to a newcomer as a one-to-one match to help them learn about daily life in Moncton. With this fellowship or guide, newcomers get help learning about:

  • Services

  • Everyday English

  • Shopping

  • Cultural events

  • Community landmarks

  • Areas of interest

Our goal is to give newcomers the chance to learn about Moncton and New Brunswick and their new community from a personal viewpoint. They can also ask questions to the connector who happily volunteers their time, experience and knowledge.
